Q: What conditions do chiropractors treat?
A: Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions. DCs are especially well known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain and headaches through manipulations or chiropractic adjustments. They also care for patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, involving the muscles, ligaments and joints. These painful conditions often involve or impact the nervous system, which can cause referred pain and dysfunction distant to the region of injury. The benefits of chiropractic care extend to general health issues, as well, since our body structure affects our overall function.*
Q: How many times will I have to come back?
A:We treat all of our patients for relief care. If it is a chronic issue, then we will address and treat accordingly.
Q: Do insurance plans cover chiropractic?
A:Chiropractic care is covered under most health insurance plans, including major medical plans, workers compensation, Medicare, some Medicaid plans. Please check with our staff to verify if your insurance covers care.
Q: How is a chiropractic adjustment performed?
A: Chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is a manual procedure that manipulates the joints of the body, particularly the spine, in order to restore or enhance joint function and motion. This often helps resolve joint inflammation and reduces the patient's pain.
Q: How long will treatment take?
A: Until you are happy. We do not put our patients on any type of schedule. Treatment is based on an individuals response to care. We are a very straight forward practice. If we cannot help you with your particular problems, we will refer you to the specific doctor who can treat you.
Q: Is chiropractic treatment ongoing?
A:Each patient is unique and will require different levels of chiropractic treatment. Some patients will require multiple treatments and potential maintenance programs while some may feel better after only a few adjustments. Our goal is to find the treatment and schedule that is right for you to get you as pain-free as possible.
Q: Why is there a popping sound when a joint is adjusted?
A: Adjustment (or manipulation) of a joint may result in the release of a gas bubble between the joints, which makes a popping sound. The same thing occurs when you crack your knuckles. The noise is caused by the change of pressure within the joint, which results in gas bubbles being released.
